Barcelona July 2011 by corsinIf you’re going to be in Barcelona at the start of July, you’ll be glad to hear that there’s a summer festival happening designed to suit all musical tastes. The Cruilla Festival is now in its sixth year here in Barcelona and promises a varied programme of over 40 acts, guaranteed to get you in the party mood.

The event centres on ethnic music, but also features musicians with lots of other styles, such as hip-hop, reggae and rock. The best part about Cruilla is that it lets real music fans hear a diverse range of styles from all around the world in two jam-packed days.

SuedeSuede

Here to showcase their long-awaited new album Bloodsports, Suede are planning on wowing the crowds in their only concert in Spain this summer. This English alternative rock band from London are headlining the Friday night, showing Barcelona their famous glam rock style.

Snoop DoggSnoop Dogg

This international superstar needs no introduction. As the embodiment of ’90s gangsta rap, Snoop Dogg (now Snoop Lion) is set to perform some new hits as well as some old crowd-pleasers. This is his only concert in Spain this year, and with new tracks from his reggae- inspired album Reincarnated, it’s a must-see show for any hip-hop fans.

Rufus Wainwright

The Canadian singer-songwriter has forged his own success in the worlds of pop, rock, opera, theatre, dance and cinema. After a busy few years, Rufus Wainwright is back in Spain, performing new tracks from his seventh studio album, Out of the Game, which was produced by Mark Ronson.

Cat PowerCat Power

Chan Marshall, better known as Cat Power, is an American singer-songwriter who burst onto the scene in the mid-90s. Performing on the Friday night, she will be playing tracks from her first album in six years, Sun, which she has described as a “rebirth”.

James Morrison

This British artist is no stranger to the stage; he has toured the USA, Australia, Japan, Europe, and has worked with international icons such as Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder. Blessed with a fresh, soulful voice that alternates between smooth and rough tones, he is set to woo the crowds his July.

These are just a few of the many acts that will take to the stage at the Cruilla Festival this summer. There will also be other entertainment on offer, such as theatre, dance and games, sure to keep you occupied.
